Sponsor Me

As an unemployed book blogger and past attendee of the 2011 & 2010 BookExpo America and Book Blogger Convention, I’m looking for help in attending both conferences this year. I write book reviews and offer giveaways for free because I want to entertain and educate people—and I just want everyone to read and appreciate books more! If you love my blog, love books, or work in the industry, please consider reading my full plea for sponsorship, Will You Sponsor Me For The 2011 BookExpo America And Book Blogger Convention This May.

How Nerdy Book Blogger Sponsorship Works: Change a Nerd, Change the World

When The Girl from the Ghetto blog first began in 2008, my philosophy was simple: connect one nerd who wants to entertain, with all people who need entertainment by using snarkiness, honesty, and a keen eye for pop culture.

The magnitude of the world’s problems – war, poverty, natural disasters and other dangers faced by millions of adults, such as being subjected to bad reality television programming and figuring out which book to buy – are too great for one single person to combat. I can only assume this is why Snooki’s book made it to the New York Times Best Sellers list. Yet my philosophy, “many sponsors, one nerd blogger,” has allowed several people to collectively improve the lives of this nerdy and needy book blogger.

Sponsor a Nerd with The Girl from the Ghetto Nerd Fund, and you will build a personal, one-to-one relationship with this sponsored nerd, while promoting your own blog, website or business.

Through photographs, personal blog posts, Twitter and Facebook wall posts, you will come to know about your sponsored nerd blogger’s online family (As my own real-life family respectfully requests their continued privacy), daily routine giveaways, and my hope for the future of books. These connections give this unemployed nerd hope, make me feel nurtured and provides the confidence I might otherwise lack due to losing 2 jobs in 15 months in the ecconomically-challenged state of Michigan.

The Girl from the Ghetto Nerd Fund even gives sponsors the ability to visit their book blogger in New York City during BookExpo week, May 23-May 27, 2011, so they may see firsthand, the difference nerd sponsorship makes.

It’s truly amazing how much $25 can do for a nerd in need:

  • Free books and proper nutrition.

  • Cheap airfare allowing me to experience stinky feet of other budget travelers.

  • Rat and bedbug-free hotel accommodations in a safer part of the city.

  • A quality educational experience and a chance to mingle with other nerds and authors.

  • The opportunity to find out about great books and share them with the world by networking with book professionals, in order to offer more book giveaways.

When you sponsor this nerd, The Girl from the Ghetto Nerd Fund will use your sponsorship and/or personal donations, combined with donations from other sponsors, to support a trip to New York to attend two fabulous conventions this May–the  BookExpo America and  Book Bloggers Convention. Won’t you consider helping this nerd make my dreams come true? Read my original plea here.

  4. I would be willing to make a contribution to your coming to the BEA. I support your desire to encourage the love of books and reading. As I just found out about your cause, it would just be a small donation from me personally.
