Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days Blu-ray Giveaway – 2012 Holiday Gift Guide

Keep reading to find out how to enter to win my giveaway and/or pre-order a copy of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days on Blu-ray.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days

When I met Jeff Kinney at BookExpo America back in 2010, I was thrilled! Not only did I get to pass him a note of appreciation from my stepson (who has Asperger’s syndrome, among other conditions), I was pleased to find out the author was such a nice young guy. I was proud of his accomplishments (as a wanna be writer) and he and his PR people made my one hour train line and two-hour wait in line worth my while by hooking me up with an advanced copy of his book that he autographed for my boy, plus a water bottle and a few other promotional items that my boy still has sitting on his desk today. My stepson was so excited when I gave it to him that every spring he asks me if I am going back to New York to attend my book conventions, because he wants me to meet all these authors. He was almost as sad as I was earlier this year when I came in second to win a free trip to both BookExpo and BEA Bloggers conventions, because he knew there was no other way I could afford to go, and thus bring him more books, since I have been looking for full-time work so long.

I tell you all of this today because I am offering one of my lucky readers a chance to win a copy of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days on Blu-ray, based on the beloved series Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney. I said yes to this giveaway because I love movies in general, have written about them on this blog for the past five years, and once managed the busiest movie theater in the country. I also said yes because I needed to make one child or teenager out there as happy as my son was back in 2010.

While I am a little sad to not have received a Blu-ray, especially after helping promote another movie for the same company I love in this post a few months ago, The Princess Bride: A Perfect Movie Adaptation, I am still glad they reached out to me at all. I’m a huge fan of theirs, and currently watch shows like How I Met Your Mother, American Horror Story, Glee, and Modern Family. My goodness, these are the same people who gave me Fight Club, one of my top 10 movies of all time!

So, please keep in mind that I am only breaking my rule just so one of you can have a super cool gift to give to a child or teen this year. Better yet, if you win, I really hope you donate it to charity this holiday season.

I think this movie looks cute, and that it could be one both parents and their kids can enjoy watching together. My own son hasn’t seen the film, but he says he’d really like to see it, as most fans of the series would. I haven’t actually seen the movie, either, but I encourage you to check out the trailer for the film now.

ABOUT THE MOVIE:

Everybody’s favorite wimp, Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon), is back for three times the fun in the latest film based on the super-popular book series! When Greg’s dad (Steve Zahn) threatens to send him to military school if he doesn’t stay out of trouble, Greg finds all-new ways to land himself in the doghouse! For starters, Greg’s in over his head when he pretends to work at the swanky country club where Rowley’s family has a membership. Things don’t go much better on a father-son camping trip with the Wilderness Explorers, and then there’s the Heffley’s new dog, Sweetie, who fetches even more trouble for Greg in this hilarious family film!

  43. I wanted to add that it’s nice of you to be donating toys and such for Christmas. Times are tough. My family has been hit hard as well. We went through 2 hurricanes (katrina and rita) when dh was in the army…he acyually went through 3 (both above and Ivan). Then the tornadoes that destroyed Smithville, ms. Moved into a 2 berm apt with 5 kids then now dh has been out of work since July due to any injury and workers comp won’t pay even though he was hurt at work. Then my 6 yo dd had to go to an aptmnt at shriners in another state for her medical problems and then 2 kids diagnosed with severe adhd and still diagnosing…them and my other children with numerous drs…plus youngest baby is allergic to milk and soy so things get high priced with that stuff and other foods she can eat. So our kids will be lucky to get one item a piece that’s cheap and not what they want but it’s something. So I commend you! God bless you!!!

  53. i learned they charge more there than amazon (prometheus, $25.99, amz, $19.96)

  54. This newest entry in the series is called ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules.’ Rodrick is Greg’s big brother. Rodrick was a simple side character in the first movie, but still had his moments as the emo-wannabe older brother who thinks he’s a much better drummer than he is. In this movie, however, Greg comes face to face with his big brother in a battle of sibling rivalry. The two of them are at each other’s throats most of the time, but their mother feels it’s high time that they start getting along. Like most parents who don’t understand the real dynamics of their children, she forces them to spend time together. You can just guess how that turns out.

  68. Ok, I have my blonde moments, I just realized the question for the review item is to this post. I do want to say that I do occasionally do giveaways for certain companies with out asking for a review item, depending the relationship between the company and myself. I do find its great to boost up followers and gain exposure to my blog to be able t oget better opps. I was thinking you was talking about a company that you never worked with, and they come out of the blue and ask you to blog about their products, without any compensation what so ever, no $$, No giveaway, No item ect….But to be honest, i wouldnt of wrote all you wrote, I would have just stated about the product in brief description and ran the giveaway, that way it doesnt take up to much of you time.

  69. I hadn’t visited FoxConnect before. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of titles available and the (generally) reasonable prices. Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

  99. I do NOT think it is acceptable for a company to ask a blogger to promote their products without sending them a review copy. It’s common courtesy. I disagree with one of the other comments made about it though that said it would be like asking the blogger to review the product for free. Bloggers NEVER get paid for their reviews. That’s just me disagreeing with the reasoning, though.
