Because I’m the coolest 40-something woman in the midwest, I happened to stop by @eddievanhalen’s Twitter page this morning and discovered that Van Halen just premiered their new video for “Tattoo” on YouTube this morning!
Even better–I was the 301st person to see it, even though it has been out for 8 hours. And, even better, I like the song. It makes me feel like a 13 year-old girl again, to the dismay of my cat Beatrice, who is desperately trying to nap. Too bad I still don’t have my old skinny size 1 butt, lol!
I wasn’t sure at first, but the lyrics, “Swamp Meet Sally, Tramp Stamp Tat” got to me. So did David Lee Roth’s low tone. And, of course, Eddie Van Halen’s guitar playing. The song reminds me of some of their earlier work on their album, “Fair Warning.” While I miss Michael Anthony’s harmonies, as well as his bass playing, I gotta admit, Van Halen still does it for me. The song is also available for sale on iTunes. I had no idea they were releasing a new album. Damn, I am so excited to hear their new album, “A Different Kind of Truth”–how about you?
So, I know you are dying to see the new video–you can check it out here. Let me know what you think of the song.
Tickets are on sale now at Van-Halen.com. Van Halen is in Detroit February 20, 2012, and I’m so sad I have no one to go with. Are you going? If so, let me know, and let me live vicariously through you!

Should be an interesting concert tour.
