The fourth item to be featured in my 2011 Holiday Gift Guide is Easylunchboxes, a complete lunch box system that is both fun and functional. The system consists of two parts: 3 compartment food containers and a lunch bag cooler. I was sent this Aqua Cooler Bag and 4 Container Set in order to write a review.
I’ve always been a lunchbox sort of girl, carrying classic lunch boxes that featured my pop culture icons such as Strawberry Shortcake and Happy Days–that is, until I started to have to get free lunch. I stopped bringing lunch because we didn’t have food to bring, and I was so embarrassed to get my free lunch at school (because I was trying to hide the fact that I was poor) so I skipped eating most of the time. In my adult life, going out to lunch wasn’t an option all that often, so I’ve been bringing my lunch to work for years. As far as adult lunch boxes go, most are boring, but I did once buy a child’s Hello Kitty lunchbox that made me very, very happy. The only problem was that it was so small I couldn’t fit anything other than a sandwich and a bag of chips. All of that leads me to the reason why I wanted to review this product, because I thought it would make a great item to own, as it looked roomy and large enough to pack several meals in, which is needed if you work 2 jobs like I used to. While I am donating my Easylunchboxes set to charity this holiday season, I can see how perfect it would be not only for my own lunch (if I still had a job, sigh), but also for our family 1 day road trips and for my husband’s lunches.
There is a whole art to planning out lunches for your family. Both my hubby and step-son pack their lunches, so I’m constantly stockpiling items for them to use, as well as sitting in front of the tv for a good 30 minutes twice a month stuffing snacks and nuts into those snack-sized baggies, since I refuse to always buy pre-packaged treats, as instructed. Boy of my men are a little set in their ways when it comes to the items I can slip into their lunches, so I had a great time watching this YouTube video of other people’s lunches that were put into their own Easylunchboxes, Bento-style. (F.Y.I.: A Bento is a single-portion takeout or home-packed meal common in Japanese culture. No worries, I didn’t know that either.)
I would totally love to do something more fun with packed lunches, wouldn’t you? I normally would throw in a sandwich, salad or leftovers along with a side or two in several different containers, but with this system, I would only have to put everything into one container. This would save me a lot of time–if I were to keep this item for myself. Plus, no more sandwich baggies, meaning less money spent at the grocery store, and I like the sound of that!
You can also go green with this Aqua Cooler Bag for $7.95 and 4 Container Set for $13.95. No Lead, Vinyl, PVC, Phthalates, or Bisphenol A (BPA).
