I love organization–perhaps due to my mild Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Or, maybe it’s because my mom was a hoarder, and I want to be the opposite of that. My mom’s kitchen was famously filled with junk mail, books, arts and crafts, photographs, and just about anything that wasn’t food. Even if I went hunting for the rare can of food, piece of bread or box of cereal, I couldn’t find it because my mom was so unorganized. As I got older, I became a bit obsessed with kitchen organization. Every time I went over to my friend’s house, I went into organization mode, as she had the most disastrous, unorganized refrigerator I had ever seen. I probably reorganized her fridge for her twice a week for two years straight–and we both loved it, because we could finally find her food! What my friend needed all those years ago was something to put all of her food in, as she had these large, dark containers that you couldn’t see into. You had no idea what was in them, and opening one could have disastrous results if it had been sitting in there for weeks.

In my own home, I knew better than to use dark, leaky food containers like she had, and was lucky enough to find Snapware one afternoon while shopping for something else. But I’ve always wanted more, and with my unemployment, I don’t feel right going out and buying household products all that often.

I just love my new Snapware products. They are sturdy, last a long time, and most-importantly, don’t spill their contents or pop open suddenly. I’ve been using the Smart Store containers to hold lunch snacks, which helps me easily keep track of what I’m running low on. Plus, the handle makes it easy to haul out of the bottom cupboard. I’ve been using the airtight canisters to hold ingredients such as brown sugar, oatmeal and flour. These canisters are great at keeping these key ingredients fresh and clump-free. I love that they also come with measured spoons that you can even store right inside the canister.
