New York, I’m here!
I made it into New York much earlier than anticipated, as I lucked out and shucked out $50 to catch an earlier flight. I was able to make it to my blogging tour of Penguin Publishing, as part of the first-ever Book Bloggers Convention.
I got to meet so many other interesting bloggers, as well as many of the marketing representatives on staff at Penguin. I even got to meet Amy Einhorn! Within the hour the girls had my arms full of books, and were sweet enough to even ship those books home to me. Life is good.
I’ll be here for the rest of the week at the 2010 BEA aka BookExpo America. It’s a huge event—and I’m here as a member of the press to see and learn what’s new and what’s next in the world of publishing, as well as mingle with others to talk about books.
I wish I had more time to blog about, but some other member of the press is throwing a fit and fighting viciously with the blogger sitting next to me. Seriously, this press room is rougher than the streets of Detroit. What they are fighing about is the most pathetic thing of all. An older woman walked up to a younger woman who was posting a blog, and assumed she has scammed her way into the press box and was using a free computer. This older woman has no idea that bloggers are important, too. She yelled, screamed, kicked her feet like a baby and basically threw a tantrum because she had to file her story. This woman has no idea how technology is changing. And the woman she picked on whooped her butt verbally. It was just wonderful!
For those who read my blog for other reasons than book talk, the BEA will showcase 500+ authors and hundreds of new releases at the Jacob K. Convention Center. There are also 1,500 exhibitors here, so I have plenty to see and do. Tonight’s keynote speaker is Barbara Streisand, and she will be introduced by none other than Oprah’s BFF Gail King. I won’t be making it to that, as I am attending the Indie Book Awards this evening on behalf of a nominee. Right now I may interview the woman who that thing that scratches your head, I think it’s called the tingler. She came from the ghetto, too.

Teena – I did enjoy it, very much, so thank you!
WOW! New York! That is so cool, that sounds like so much fun. I hope you have a really great time. Can’t wait to hear all about it. ;+)
Starla – I did have fun, I’m just pooped out, but managed to write my part one tonight.
This is going to sound a bit strange and terrible, but there are few things I enjoy more than watching an older individual get an education about the internet, one way or another. I wish I was there.
Brad – Am I the older individual, or are you? LOL! I had a great time, and you should go next year.
What a wonderful blog.

How fun to meet other bloggers and hang out with them. I’ll have to check and see if there are any of these in LA or closer to me in Cali.
