I really enjoy the judges choice selections each year on Idol.  Usually you get to hear good challenging songs that make sense for each singer.  However …. so far, the choices, in my humble opinion, suck!

I’m not alone, Simon just told Kara that “You can’t chose a song for him, and then blame him for doing the song!”

First, Paula chose for Danny, and she picked Dance Little Sister by Terrence Trent D’Arby, a man who was popular for even shorter than she was.  Danny did a good job, but it was a so so song, and not spectacular like I expect as this point.

Then Randy and Kara pick Apologize by One Republic.  More popular song, but even a worse choice.  Hopfully Simon’s pick will be much better for Adam.

And, holy shit, it is.  One by U2.  I love that friggin’ Bono himself called Simon to clear it.  Who doesn’t love U2.  Simon, thank you for saving the night for me!

Adam, nice job, it was very subtle but good as always!

Side note, is anyone else sick of the cell phone plugs throughout the broadcast?  I know that stuff has to be done, but yuck, it bugs me!

I don’t care, but its racy, right?  He’s still going to win, and to be honest, a person’s sexual orientations shouldn’t matter.

Now Danny is up, and his choice is You Are So Beautiful by Joe Cocker.  I love this song, and he is doing a good job singing, but its a little too slow for my liking.  Darn it, why did he go and do that? Wow, no idea that Randy, Kara and Paula would like his performance so much.  At least Simon agrees with me about the tempo of the song.

Kris picked Heartless by Kanye West.  I’m not very familiar with Kanye, and because of this, I am not digging the performance as much as I should.  Kris has a nice smooth voice, and is a good singer, but, his type of music is not my type of music.  I’m going to be bold and guess that he is going home tomorrow night.  I’ve always believed this show was going to be between Danny and Adam. 

Adam, oh Adam, I am dying to find out what you are going to pick!  OMG, Cryin’ by Aerosmith.  I so love that you are throwing your talent in Danny’s face right now.  I’m loving it, but note to American Idol producers – the back up singer is ruining Cryin for me.  She’s too loud or sharp or whatever.

Adam, dude, you rock so much!  And you are a rock star!  And dude, who else really else hits those notes but you?
