Anoop the Poop & Big Rounds Are Getting Kicked Off Of Idol This Week

So, Idol went groovy on us and did a 70s Disco Era theme this week.  Sadly, I barely heard any disco tonight.

Ever since that beat boxing Blake Lewis hit the American Idol stage, the tables have turned on the contestants and now they have to bring it and by bring it I mean they have to turn water into wine.  Now, while I loved Kris’s version of She Works Hard For The Money, sometimes, I just want to hear a good sounding song.  Ugh.  When they go retro, I wanna hear retro.  Anyone else out there agree with me?  Or am I just in a mood tonight?

First of all, I have to say I was thinking this and wrote it down in my notes way before Randy said it- This season has way better singers than last year.  And, why couldn’t have Anoop sang something like How Deep Is Your Love?  He always, always makes the wrong song choice.  Always.

1. Lil Rounds aka Big Rounds (And I know that you know what I mean!) – I’m Every Woman by Chaka Kahn.  My girl said it best today … “She reminds me of that girl from Flint, Lakisha.”  She explained to me that Lakisha was great at first but eventually got kicked off because she kept giving bad performances.  That is so right on.  All I can say is that I liked her outfit because it showed off her assests well.  And I loved her mama with her hand up in the air.  Then mama was standing up, giving the hand.  Then I think daddy yelled “Karaoke don’t sound like that.”  I don’t care if someone sounds karaoke … but I wrote down “Not so much” next to her name.  It just wasn’t a great performance to me.  She’s going home 100%.

2. Kris AllenShe Works Hard For The Money by Donna Summer.  Wow that was good.  And so different, I was not expecting that performance at all.  Paula said it perfectly when she said it had that “Classy Santana Feel.”

3. DannySeptember by Earth, Wind and Fire.  He is going to the final two unless Kris keeps surpassing him like he did tonight.  You guys know Danny is my favorite so I can’t diss him here.  But he can do better.   I loved seeing Paula dance to his performance like a loon as hubby said.  Hee hee, she is so fun on this show.  God Bless her.

4. AllisonHot Stuff by Donna Summer.  I didn’t like her arrangement, but the girl is a great singer.  I think if she dyed that hair she’s go farther.  Its the pink hair curse on this show.  I just adore her, and feel she needs a record contract.

5. AdamIf I Can’t Have You – Yvonne Elliman. First, a side note - The Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack is one of the holy trio of soundtracks for me, with the others being Grease and Urban Cowboy.  I’m always thrilled to hear any song performed from any of these soundtracks!  Back on track – Dear Lord, can this man sing.  I think Adam is going to win this, unless people get all hatey towards him for being, ahem, different.  I actually feel bad for him that he’s stuck on Idol because he is such a good performer that he needs to win his Tony on Broadway ASAP.  Its a shame he has to do the Idol tour.  Wow, can’t wait to see him on screen or on Broadway.    That being said, my gay told me to google Adam Lambert kissing boys.  So, for all of those who need to go ghetto, let me help you.  Please don’t take that as a ban, but I have a lot of people at work who don’t believe he is.

6.  MattStayin’ Alive by the Bee Gees.  I didn’t like it, and he can’t hold a note.  And on this song, he needed to.  I also noticed that the singers or Matt messed up, at one point there was a missed note on someones part.  I know this song like the back of my hand.  My older cousins and I listened to the album just about every weekend for a year.  We will be seeing Matt off in two weeks.

7.  Anoop (The Poop) – Dim All The Lights by I Don’t know but Who Cares?  Um, ok, I was already told Anoop the Poop isn’t very nice, but he makes such dumb song choices I can’t help myself.  Yikes.  He is so going home tomorrow.  However, I enjoy seeing how happy his sweet little parents look each week so I’m feeling sorry for them already.  I loved his dad doing the thumbs down to Simon while still smiling.  So cute!  Oh, yeah, before I foget, does he or doens’t he look like an Asian Ross from Friends?

  1. I voted 4 times for Matt last night. I acted like a 13 year old I know, but I don’t want him to leave yet! Also, I just heart Adam so terribly much. I wish he was my gay.
And I totally agree about Paula. Between her rambling and dancing, she is the sweetest, craziest thing that show will ever have!

    • Amy – Watching Paula cry during Adam’s performance last night was just priceless. I enjoy her so much. i am laughing you voted, I have never. Wasn’t it funny to see Vince Neil and his wife there as well? It dumbfounds me when musicians love American Idol.

  2. Vince Neil looks so horrible doesn’t he?? I have a love for Motley Crue that runs so deep, I cannot even begin to talk about it.

    • Amy in Ohio – I saw them in concert, and at the last minute guess who quits the band? Tommy Lee. I wanted to kill myself, but it was still a great concert. I’m a Van Halen girl myself, but Home Sweet Home may be the first rock song I knew by heart and can still sing on command to this day. “Tonight, I’m gonna wait, lord set me free, home sweet home.”

  3. I thought Lil would get voted off last week. And I agree that Kris had a classy, smart performance. Maybe it doesn’t matter much at this point who goes home when. My only wish is that Adam and Danny stay strong!

  4. Kris is definitely growing on me. Paula is definitely as entertaining as any of the singers are. I hope they are not trying to force her out with the addition of Kara. She’s just boring in comparison.

I am anxiously awaiting your ROL Reunion blog!! ;) Poor Mindy… I think she actually loves Bret!

  5. Producers Talking: Okay, this is how its gonna be, we’re going to have Randy critique first, with all his Dog comments. Randy, you’re contractually obligated to use the word “Dog” a minimum of 3 times per critique, got that?

Now Kara, you’re next. We expect you to say something sweet but firm, try to use a non-descript accent and don’t be consistant with that each week. No one’s sure about you anyway. Lets keep ‘em guessing. Got that?

Now Paula? Paula? –Someone tap her gently on the arm, willya? Paula! Hi! Listen, we’ve seated you third-in so that you have time to collect your thoughts, work out your soundbyte for each contestant… Please don’t try to use adjectives that you’re unsure about… try to stick with shopping analogies, or maybe music, but only if they don’t ever connect to your singing career, or include references to “Straight Up!” . And Paula, Paula!, You’re going to have to keep each comment under 2 minutes, and if the contestant brought you to your feet, arms-a-waving, really, that speaks for itself, we’ve got camera 2 on you for that, keep your comments extra short then… unless of course Randy’s and Kara’s comments make you want to change your mind, despite your dancing, then quick, come up with something super clever, and if indeed its going to be “mean”, then be MORE SWEET that Kara about it. Got that Paula? Did someone take notes for her?

Now Simon, we work for you, of couse, so you do whatever magic you’ve been doing for the past seasons and we’ll just make sure we have the best camera angle on you. We will, as directed, remind you if you’ve forgotten to burn someone, despite your admiration for their work, and we’ve taken upon ourselves to be most certain that the camera angle hides your boner at the end of each Adam performance. We’ve had few close calls, but then again, many of the camera men have been stricken by the same affliction.

Okay, so that’s a wrap…–someone can wake Paula, thanks. Hi Paula. So anyway, thanks for coming to the meeting… now lets go fake our way through the next few weeks, as we all know who’ll be crowned this year, don’t we?
Whew! Let’s go get a giant plastic cup of Coke!

  6. I dont watch Idol religiously, but I tune in often enough to know who’s who. Ive spent all season being so disappointed by Lil. She has incredible talent but she has not shown that! Week after week, she picks songs that are all wrong, that don’t show what she can do. I truly hope that after this is over, someone will take a chance on her and put her in the right direction.

  7. Vinyl, Its going to be hard for her. She’s a mom, she can’t just up and move to LA to shop around for agents, etc. I feel bad for her. She was a good singer, oh, this was all such a disaster…
