Now that season four of Jon and Kate Plus 8 has ended, what is in store for the Gosselins? According to this article, Kate Gosselin is know saying that she wants to be a talk show hostess one day. Of course she wants her own talk show … because all this show has ever been is about her struggles to raise her kids. To quote Kate “I know one thing for sure; I am never sure what the future holds for us! However, I am enjoying doing TV in all capacities that I have had the privilege of doing and my dream is that there is a future talk show waiting for me!”
We know TLC is owned by Discovery Health, and that Oprah owns Discovery Health, so in a sense, Oprah already owns Kate. Will Oprah give Kate her dream?
It looks like Kate is trying to change her image. She’s got the ”mom haircut.” She’s also slimming down. Good for her … she looks like she’s down to a size four, because her butt is all of a sudden very tiny. It looks like she has lost about twenty pounds over the past eight months or so. And she’s tan, and she has finally stopped wearing t-shirts. She is dressing fancier. And she has not been filmed yelling in public for a while now.
After watching Jon Gosselin with a very suspicious large bruise/bump on his forhead during the season four finale, it was very clear to me and my husband, who doesn not watch the show but agreed to for the finale that the Gosselins have different goals. And any two married people with different goals … not so good.
Jon said the following:
- It’s tough for me … I still haven’t come to grips with it.
- I feel frustrated.
- It’s hard being on this side of the camera.
- Maybe we’ll be back, maybe we won’t.
And Kate said this:
- Ready for season five.
- This show is the best thing and the hardest thing that has happened to us.
- I have the ideal job.
- Jon feels frustrated, that’s not me.
- We have some ironing to do.
- I’m very happy.
So, what do you all think is going to happen to Kon? Will Kate force Jon to keep filming? Or will they quit and Kate will continue to travel and promote her “Stuff” until she lands a talk show. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
I found it interesting that in both episodes that aired tonight Jon said he was at his mom’s THREE times. And Kate said that Jon was on a trip. I asked my husband (Out of the room, away from the tv) would he say that I was on a trip if I went to my mom’s and he said no, I’d say you were at your mom’s.
All I know for sure is that this dude looks drunk as hell.

Recently, my wife sold our family and my personal privacy for millions of dollars and fifteen minutes of fame. Now I can’t go to college dive bars and get drunk with the softball team because someone will post pictures from the night on Facebook. Moreover, my wife will find out and beat me up. Now she is pushing to get her own talk show even though she is as exciting as one Lego block. FML

I am so tired of all the free trips & outings at venues (Sesame Street on Ice, Harlem Globetrotters, etc.) The house doesn’t bug me that much because they were cramped in the old one (& the neighbors seem glad they are gone). even the product placing appliances aren’t that big of a deal to me.
Little things tick me off…
“we eat all organic” & then there was something about the little kids not ever eating fast food because we are all organic & healthy, but then they are eating pizza at the new house.
A few seasons ago Kate needed Jon to shop for her because she hated shopping & didn’t know what to buy. Now she loves shopping & can’t get enough of it.
I normally don’t hate on kids, I can chalk what they do to irritate me as kids being… well, kids.
I can’t stand Mady, she is a world class brat. So the big plus for me with the finale was there was very little of her.

That finale was very weird…when they were speaking it seemed very “forced” Jon is so not happy. I think if Kate was really concerned about the state of they’re marriage she would say enough is enough. But obviously money seems more important than love. I find it amusing that at the last minute Oprah decided to do the show via sattelite. Maybe O is seeing that this family shouldn’t be handed a free trip because theres 8 of them.
Did anyone happen to watch Table for 12? I really like this family and TLC had to go and ruin it by having them advertise for Ragu and letting them have access to an aquarium at night when no one is around. I guess I’ll have to stick to the Roloff’s who actually help their fellow man and build a Habitat for Humanity house!

Lis – I had forgotten that Kate hated shopping. She has made fun of Jon for years for his wardrobe, his sweater vests, and all his ironing. Kate may be getting all sorts of free clothing and I bet that is why she was saying all of that last night.
I would love a free wardrobe, clothes, house, trips, etc. but I myself would never put my family on tv to get it. Its just my opinion and I’m entitled to have and defend it here. And thank you, glad you like my blog!
Audra – I missed most of TF12 because I was writing this post. Funny, I was put off by the Ragu stuff as well. You know, I never mind when famous people get to go places at night or closed down, etc. I don’t mind that … I just worry that being in the public eye for so long may be hard for the family.
I think Jon looked extremly upset last night and he was forcing himself to do this last interview. I hope that he doesn’t have to be miserable on tv for much longer. If this show was supposed to show the word how hard it is to raise 8 kids, then its done its job. Because only one person looked happt to me last night … and it wasn’t Jon.
I want someone who is a super fan of Kate’s to please tell me why they think Jon looked so miserable … and why the show should go on if he can’t even bear to speak let alone hide his thoughts for the cameras for a few hours … he looked so darn miserable.

(And honestly I would question the fact if my husband wanted his picture taken with him, really!!) I do think they should pack it in and start living a normal life as a family…however to all the haters…how would you look with a video camera taping your life all the time? Nanna – Yes, the control issues she has are a little frightening. I had to laugh when she showed her painting first to America – no one wants to see your art, we were interested in what the kids painted!
Even the last moments of the season finale showed Kate’s overwhelming need to control. When Jon went to sign the wall, Kate demanded, not asked, for the marker. She always has to be in control. Odd that she even ordered him to put the kids pictures down while he was looking at them. She is going to be a very lonely woman someday. Kids will turn against her when the see these shows as adults and realize they were used for her making money, no man or woman will want to be her partner (unless they love to be punished and humiliated), and the “free stuff and money” will end. It is very sad to see a family self destruct over greed and control. Kate would do well to move to Wall Street and take over there!
Talk show host (GAG). What will her topics be? How to be a bitch, how to whip your man? How to get freebies? How to talk down to other people and demean them, even if they’re doing things for you? How to piss off and on your family?
Speaking of a Gosselin Divorce, the the last thing I want to see is Kate turned into the “single-mother with 8 victim.” I can see TLC spinning it now. They would demonize Jon and make Kate the bitch look like a victim.
With respect to Kate having a talk show – She is much too polarizing and unlikeable. Who in their right mind would give Kate her own talk show? Puleazze!

I really loved this show…more at first. Then as Kate got increasingly mean to Jon I am really bothered by that. If he wanted to go party with some co-eds I can’t blame him. I hope they get counseling and stay together for those kids’ sakes.

I couldn’t see Rachel Ray as a talk show host since she was a cook and didn’t have a background in interviewing. But, she has one thing Kate doesn’t have — a friendly personality. So, Rachel’s talk show works. Kate doesn’t display any “perkiness” or Rachel nor any of the professionalism of Oprah.
In thinking about my own marriage, their are times that my hubby and I both gave up things that were important to us because it bothered the other. On the other hand, sometimes we obliged one another. It’s a give and take. We’ve looked at the positive and negative effects on our family when we’ve made these decisions. Hopefully, Kon will do so too. However, what we’ve seen of Kate’s personality leads me to believe that it will be her decision solely. I could see her leaving Jon and the kids if she was offered a talk show. By leaving, I’m not necessarily saying divorce — just that she would relocate and have a long distance relationship with Jon and the kids.
To those that say they would walk up to Jon in a bar and ask to have a picture taken, give the guy a break. I recently met one of my long-time musicals idols and didn’t take a picture with him, though I easily could have. I just said I enjoyed the previous night’s show and thanked him for his body of work. If you met Jon, or any real celebrity, , it would be better to just tell him you enjoy the show.

I do not know how I got directed here, but I started reading and I do not agree with many. Seems everyone is upset to see how one couple in this country who has a set of twins and sextuplets lives. I see them behaving just like anyone else. It seems that people are not happy that this family isn’t on welfare for us to support. If they weren’t doing well and were recieving public assistance at this time everyone would still be saying negative things. I would think the residents of PA. would be glad our tax dollars isn’t feeding 10 more mouths. Why doesn’t anyone see the good in things anymore. Way too much hate in this world. Hope and pray that changes but that Jon and Kate Plus 8 doesn’t.
If they get a divorce, Jon should file for full custody of the 8 kids. Kate is the one who loves running all over the country pushing her books and talking about her superior mother skills. Let Kate pay Jon alimony and child support. He is the more nuturing of the pair.
Let Kate keep HER new house. Remember when she looked out of the kitchen window and said, “All this is MINE for as far as I can see.” And, remember how she opened the front door of the new house and said, “Welcome to MY house”?

I don’t behave that way with my husband or family. Frankly, I believe I would have been divorced a long time ago if I behaved the way she does. Also, I’m a PA resident and we want these moochers GONE!!! We are tired of waiting for this family to get done with their shooting a scene in public, so we the low scums of the world can enjoy allowing our kids to ride the rides. Btw, I paid for my kids’ admission, did they?? Well I guess what she says is true, if you have eight kids, you can plead eight……she sure is eight times nastier to people!
Pam, there is no doubt in my mind that they would have been just fine without exploiting their children. But Kate doesn’t seem to like to settle, she feels entitled for bigger and better things, at the expense of her precious children.
If she was on welfare, I don’t think we’d hear about the family at all. Do we here much about any other HOM families that aren’t on TV?
In the end, I doubt the childen will remember the trips, they’ll remember the preperation for the filming of them, I doubt they’ll remember the people they’ve met on their travels, they’ll remember the family that was kicked out of their lives probably as soon as they’ve become attached to them, and I doubt they’ll be thankful to their parents for putting all their most private moments out there for all to see, I think they’ll be angry for a long, long time.
The parents could also get their own JOBS that don’t involve exploiting thier children.
I don’t know what world you live in, but they are far from normal compared to families I see in real life, and not on TV.
I am so glad I found this site! I thought I was the only one who couldn’t stand Kate Gosselin, but continued to watch the show. I loved it at first, bit it’s like a car accident, you don’t want to see it, but you can’t manage to turn away. It disgusts me how Kate exploits her children, and manages to treat her husband like he is 12 years old. Im pretty sure Kate knows a divorce is in her future, so she is milking TLC for all she can get before her golden gates come crashing down. I found this blog by complete random (googling information on Ashley from Rock of Love Bus…ha!) and I love it! So of course I went searching through it and found this and other posts about Jon and Kate Plus 8. I LOVED that show when it first came out. But when I saw their one millionth free vacation I started to get bored. Kate makes it like these kids are getting valuable, amazing experiences to enrich their lives. Um, hello! They’re like what, four years old now? They aren’t going to remember anything about it until they watch the show ten years from now. I think it’s pathetic that TLC has to give them free trips to keep the show interesting. Otherwise, it would be four seasons of Kate sitting at home yelling at Jon. I think their marriage is doomed to have trouble. I have zero tolerance for women who boss men around and Kate does it under the guise of “I’m so stressed out and need help blah blah blah”. Well, she’s going to be REALLY stressed out when she’s ALONE raising these 8 kids because Jon got smart and left her to keep his sanity. I can’t believe she’s not embarrassed for how rude she is… *sigh* But, it makes for good tv, no?
I watched the “Green” episode. Kate came across as ungrateful and b*tchy. It was hard to watch. what is up with her???? She has come so far from being a loving mom that she is unrecognizable.

It was funny (ironic) that Kate served the contruction men with styrofoam cups and her kids with the usual paper plates and plasticware….. Green? I think not.

I am rewatching it again since I was doing other activities my first time through. Steve’s show is Renovation Nation. Who on earth needs an hour by hour job schedule to have a project done in your home? She is such a controlling bitch it isn’t funny. The funniest part to me was when Steve made a comment while eating cookies that was maybe when Kate’s nurturing instincts came out.
One big nitpick it was too cold for Kate outside but all the kids were out.
Tilly makes a great point about the styrofoam cups and paper plates. I mean sure, use disposable dishes but at lease use the recyclable ones! They still recycle, right?
Memo to Kate:
1) You can recycle paper plates and plastic ware. After you make such a big deal about all the recycling your family does, you look like a giant hypocrite when you throw that pile in the trash. I did the rough math, and she’s throwing away 10950 plates per year. Double or triple that number if you factor in plastic forks/spoons/knives
2) It is still unknown how long it takes for styrofoam to break down in a landfill, some say it might take more than a millennia.
