Just a quicky … vacations and illnesses and publicists

Hello blog friends and foes!

wp_1951

I’m working on two huge posts for this week and trying to plan a vacation for my husband’s birthday.  Plus living life, working full time, grocery shopping and watch my tv shows.  Shit, I even missed Americal Idol last night.  Went to bed at 9pm.  And getting physical therapy a few nights a week.   Plus dealing with an exhaustion that is getting so bad I think I slept like 29 hours Friday and Saturnday night.  I feel like I am missing out on so much fun stuff to write about and reading my friend’s blogs and finding new blog friends.  I miss keeping up with the Kate Gosselin chatter on here.  Always puts a smile on my face.

Right now, after slamming a can of soup for lunch (It can be done, but its gonna hurt later) I have dashed over to my local library to write this.  As I’m typing, again my long lost possible serial killer in training brother is sitting behind me and has no idea that I’m here.  He lives over 60 miles away from me, yet comes to the library near my work to undoubtedly stalk his victims.  My BFF the Big A suggests I take a picture of him … and I forgot my camera today.  Damn, I assure you, its a funny situation that happens about once a week.

So, on to vacation stuff.  I want to fun a plan trip for me and the hubby over Memorial Day weekend.  5 day trip.  I have been to about 40 states, he’s been to about 15 or so.  Where should we go?  I’m pulling for San Francisco, as I have only been there once.  Anyone live or know what non-traditional things we can do there?  Any historical info … help me win him over … Texas is a possibility as well.  But how damn hot does it get there in May?  Which is the best city to visit?  Or Oregon?  I’d love your help.

Illnesses – Yes, multiple.  I’m sick of all of them, and the many doctors I have.  Last week I was diagnosed with something weird, rare and scary that I’m posting on Friday or Saturday.  There isn’t much info out there … But I am realyl happy as hell to finally have my answer.

Publicists – a few publicists have contacted me to promote their clients shows.  I wonder if there are any savy bloggers out there who can give me advice about this.  I’m not going to write about a show just because someone sends me an email … but then again should I?  I have been writing about the things I do enjoy watching.  Also, has anyone ever tried to go to an event as a member of the press for their blog?  My god I’d love to do that.  Plus I have a great digital camera and I’m a decent photographer.  Please share some tips or email me.  I’d be eternally grateful.  I’d love to be ablt to write full time rather than work a 9-5 job.

Lastly, I am thinking of doing a “Readers Questions” sort of post.  I’ve done tons of different meme’s and quite possible have written everything there is to know about me, but if you all want to post questions here for me to answer … I’ll do it.  Just not things about where I work, what I do, or my name.  I think everything else is up for grabs.

  1. When are you going on vacation? Did you say or did I read right over it? How about Seattle?!? It’s beautiful up here and sometimes the “it rains all the time” is just a myth – although not today. LOL.

How cool is it that people are asking you to blog for their TV show. I’d LOVE to do that. Totally.

  2. Oh I see, you did say Memorial Day weekend. It might be really pretty in Seattle that weekend. :) Portland, Oregon is nice too… I was born there. There is a zoo, botanical garden, downtown area to visit… not sure what else. I don’t get down that way much.

  3. your in luck..American Idol wasn’t on last night because of the Presiden’s speech! It is on two hours tonight with an hour long results show tomorrow!

  4. We’d love to welcome you to Texas! But I must warn you that if you are not used to heat, you will find it very hot here by Memorial Day. I would recommend Austin/San Antonio or Ft. Worth. If you went to Ft. Worth, you could stop by the one and only honky tonk that welcomed Bret Michaels and ROL – Billy Bob’s. Ha!! Lots of great people watching there. You could take random pics of people there and then blog about them. I love it when you do that!

I am sorry you have been feeling so crappy. I am glad you finally have an answer and look forward to hearing what it is. I hope it is nothing too serious?

Finally, that is so exciting that publicists have contacted you! What a compliment for you! Just shows what an awesome blog you have. Congrats!

  5. love the someecard! and if they want you to promote it, they should send you some free tickets. thats how it works. i used to be a “writer” who dealt with publicists.

  6. I think you should come to texas 2! I personally want to go to south padre island! But if you do come, like Shannon said, the weather is so much warmer than Michigan! I mean its February 25th and its 83! If you come, please go to Billy bobs! And the fort worth stock yards! So much to see and do!

  7. I don’t like vacation anymore…so, as you say to me, “I got nothing.”
    lol

  8. The Big A – Ha ha ha … I love it when people quote me to me. I wish you did like vacations … there are awesome. You know, we have never been on one together and we have been friends since 1977. Crazy!

Stephanie TX – What is going on with the Fort Worth Stock Yards … heard of them … but don’t know where they are? I’d love to see Dallas because Dallas was my favorite show back in the 80s, lol!

That/Chick – Whoever created that concept of Somee Cards needs to my best friend. I just laugh and laugh reading them. And how cool are you being a writer. I’m going to have to stop by your page. (It won’t be tonight, because Lost and Idol are on …)

Shannon TX – I love that movie Urban Cowboy, and in my life always wanted to ride that bull. Damn, a few years ago I finally got to ride one, thus the Life is an Adventure picture of me riding my bull. Such a great moment in my life! I’m not sure if I can stand that heat. I’ve driven through the pan handle 3 or 4 times and about had a heart attack. So, Texas may be out … but, I’ll let everyone know where we pick!

Shannon MI – I just found out the good news at dinner with the family, so I’m geeked as hell!

Little Miss – We were in Seattle in May 2007. Loved it. What a great place. I have two old friends who live there now. Jealous! The Underground Tour is so cool … As for Portland, its on our list. Can you think of anything historical there off hand? And yes, I am very flattered that ANYONE visits my blog, let alone emails me and wants me to help promote their client. I am always amazed that so ANYONE finds their way here…. Thanks!

  9. its cool when publicists want to give you free things and send you to events. and the more you go, the more theyll want you to go. its a sweet deal. enjoy lost!

  10. San Francisco is definitely a great place to go. So many things to see in one city. The Exploratorium is still one of the coolest places I’ve ever been, ever…Golden Gate Park is amazing, the trees are huge. This hills might be a little rough for walking around, and don’t even bother with the trolleys…good luck catching one they’re always filled to the brim with tourists. Chinatown lives up to its reputation though!

I do agree with the other Texas girls, it’s darn hot here in May. This would be a good winter spot to vacation to, the weather is perfect right now. I’m not a huge fan of the Dallas/FW area (too homogenized and not very scenic), but if you’re going for the cowboy-esque Texas experience I guess I would be the place. Austin and San Antonio are way prettier.

That thing about your brother is super weird. Does he not notice you…or just not recognize you? I agree, you should document this oddity. I’ve always been curious on why you think he’s going to be a serial killer…so I guess that would be my question to you…maybe a little back story, unless you’ve already gone into and I just missed it.

As far is people contacting you to write for them, I say it’s long overdue! With as much traffic as you get, I think you’re crazy for not wanting to profit off your blog. But if you do want to make money from ads at whatnot, I could actually help you out with that. My husband is a programmer and sets up that sort of thing for people all the time. Since we’re both fans of your blog, I’m sure he’ll want to help you out. Let me know….

  11. are you coming to iowa? We’ve got the corn!

  12. Jen 512 – I didn’t want to do adds on here, just thought it was more trouble than it was worth. Plus I like blogging for the hell of it. But yes, I want to get paid for writing, even if its in free stuff. Thanks for the link, that looks pretty cool.

As far as my brother goes, I’ve never said why … I am actually saving this nugget for my book. So, sorry for the non-answer … but, I will explain more later. Sadly, I have my camera today @ the library, and he is not here. Ha ha! He knows me, I’m just a lot fatter than when he saw me last. I think he is just ignoring me like I am ignoring him. Ha ha, my family is so nuts!

Javajunke- Ah, I have been there via the highway. A great state to drive through!!!

  13. If you think you’ll be interested in the shows and can make the time to watch them, then go for it! I enjoy reading your stuff even when I don’t watch the shows you are talking about. LOL. As for your diagnosis – thank goodness you now have some information you can work with. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!

    • Teeni – I know I should, but the thing is, I don’t have the time to write about another 5 shows faithfully each week. I just need to be a full time writer. Wish I could. And yes, I am happy to know just what the hell is going on. Thank you so much!

  14. That’s okay, I’ll buy your book. =]
