Santa brought us Guitar Hero for Christmas. Well, he really got it for my daughter, but you know what I mean. It’s fun, right? They all laugh at me, and tell me I suck here. Not fair! Sure, hubby and the daughter play instruments in real life, but not me! I’m an old woman who has a spine that is falling apart, and I have only been able to finish one song. Of course it is “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” one of my old karaoke songs. I am just horrible at it, omg it is so funny. I bob up and down like a duck in water to each note, and I can’t keep my fingers on the frets. I’m stuck playing “Slow Ride”, can’t get past 90% of the song. After three attempts my hand, wrists, and shoulders are frozen, and even as I type this I’m using only my ring finger. Yikes, am I falling apart!

I didn’t get much for Christmas, as we went to NY for Thanksgiving, and that was our present to ourselves. I got a therapeutic aromatherapy heating pad for my shoulder, a hair brush, a Haven Kimmel book “Iodine” and a ring for my combo b-day and Christmas gift from the kids. Oh, and a DVD – Moulin Rouge. Plus cash from me mum, with which I’m buying Arbonne. I love the RE product line. Since I have damn Rosasea, I have the red face and this stuff really works. This summer was the first I had without a big red face. I totally recommend it!

So what did you all get from Santa? Did you have a good holiday? Or just a crap one? Did your family drive you nuts?

I made a big brunch, we opened gifts with the kids, then I drove down to the hood alone to visit my mom. Oh boy, did my mom looked like a hag! She had a broken front tooth, a huge bald spot on her head, and her hair was grey, red, and some weird blond color with brown in the back. She got mad at me for telling her she needd to get her hair fixed, and she just turned on Austin Powers 2 until it was time for me to go. My brother was no where in sight, even thoughI think he has moved back in with her. That would explain why I see (And ignore) him at the library about twice a week for MONTHS now. And he had car parts scattered all over the house, and his shaving cream and razer and toothbrush in the bathroom. WTF? And, to top it off, my friend cut off her finger, and my mother-in-law also fell and broke her wrist, fractured her spine, and hurt her tailbone. She did it at her church, and of course I told her “See, you should have skipped church!” She was only going to give $ – her once a year visit so that she has a place to be buried, lol!
Here is a picture of the little Italian Santa we got. I adore him he reminds me of Grandfather from the Shirley Temple movie “Heidi.”

Today I spent the day at work, and I answered five phone calls, worked on one file, and created two more. I usually do about 600 things in a day, no joke, so I was beyond bored … so, as a result, I am drained from surfing the internet for eight hours. Forgive me if this post is a little lame. I just have got nothing, and have yet another headache. Although, I am still enjoying all the bacon we ate in the past two days (Two pounds, don’t hate!)

Worst of all, I am now convinced I have some weird neurological issue after viewing this photo. What is up with my eye? Creepy! One is blue and big, the other green-gray and small.

You itched that eye like you do before the picture…OMG…it’s not an illness…STOP IT! My Christmas was a bunch of Carpenter’s kind of eating too much and talking over one another…the kids got a few gifts and that’s it!

OH MY GOSH…my eyes do the same damn thing! I thought it was only me..so whatever it is we both got it going on. Holy crap!
ok now about this guitar hero..you need to PRACTICE without an audience …without anybody bothering you. We don’t own game systems (unless you want to count my old atari remix)..and yeah there’s no guitar hero although to see what an atari guitar hero would have looked like would be fun. So the only time I get to play that game is if I go to somebody’s house who has it (which sometimes is an excuse to GO to somebody’s house)

Maybe that drummer (Rock Band) thing is more your speed. I think that i would be in the same boat if we had that here…
Every band needs a drummer…or you could be a groupie!

I suck at guitar hero too! I always get boo’ed off stage…oh well such is life. I got some slippers with guitar’s with angel wings and shiny hot pink stars(ugly as hell) but they are comfy and my hubby calls them my “Rock of Love” slippers!! LOL! I got a car charger for my cell phone(as my battery is always almost dead. My Mother-in-law bought me a Pandora Box charm bracelet. Ever hear of Pandora Box Jewelry?? I hadn’t either but it’s supposed to be the latest and greatest thing…I don’t know I’ve never heard of it before either but is beautiful and it will be fun to collect the charms.
Have you ever baked your bacon?? Being a bacon lover myself but always feeling guilty about it cooking in a pool of fat I decided to try and bake it. It is awesome!! You can do it a couple of ways….I usually do it the lazy way and line a cookie sheet(with sides) with foil and lay out the bacon bake at 400 for 15 to 20 min. depending how crispy you like it( I like my on the less crispy side). Another way and probably even more healthy is to put a cooling rack on top of the foil lined cookie sheet and lay the bacon on that, then all the fat drips down.
O.K. how did this turn into Shannon’s guide to baking bacon???? Sorry, I swear some of my comments are longer than your posts…geesh! I should start blogging for cripes sake!

LOL. Guitar Hero is so much fun even though I suck at it! I can’t help having a fit of the giggles as I start losing the song completely.
You still have a beautiful smile – let’s hope that is just a weird camera angle and not some scary mysterious neurological thing going on with the eyes! Cool hat!

if you want to torment yourself even more…
go to addictinggames.com and look for riff master! Go on…it’s for us “po” folk! It’s kind of fun..you must use your imagination as pushing buttons on a keyboard is not as much fun as shredding it on a guitar..but doable!

Oh my gosh, I LOVE BACON!
Sounds like you had a crazy Christmas. A friend cutting off her finger and your mother-in-law breaking her spine? Oh my gosh.
Mine was uneventful compared to yours – just one weird run-in with someone I try to avoid, and that was it.
I got some cute clothes too!
