What do you do on the weekend?

For some people, the weekend is filled with parties, drinking, and one night stands.  For me, I’m lucky if I make it out of my fleece pajamas both Saturday and Sunday.  Fibromyalgia kicks my ass these days.  By the time 4:30 pm hits, I’m tired as hell from my work as I deal with stupid, lazy, and evil people all week long.  I’m beat down like a racehorse. I believe that my job is stealing my soul a little each day.

This weekend isn’t anything special.  Since my stupid side business has slowed down, I’ve been at home more on the weekends.  We took the kids out to dinner last night to Macaroni Grill for getting good grades this semester, and I came home and watched The Office and 30 Rock, then read my book, Angela’s Ashes by Frank McCourt.  My god, what a great and yet horrible book.  I finished it this morning, and unfortunately, have been talking with a horrible Irish accent ever since.  If you know me in real life, just ask me to do any accent.  I’m probably the worst person in the world when it comes to accents.

I decided to give my hubby a big surprise, and I worked on organizing and throwing out and giving away some of my shit in the basement for about four or five hours today.  When he came down the stairs (Mr. Ghetto Girl is the most anal, tidy, and organized man in America, which is a good thing) he smiled at me just like he did on our wedding day, as he was that happy I was working on clearing out my stuff.

I found all sorts of great stuff, like the cowboy hat I stole from an Australian cowboy in Cody, Wyoming about 5 1/2 years ago.  Just minutes after some minor kissing, this cowboy surpised me by stripping down to his birthday suit.  I think the hat was on my head and I just ran as fast as I could, as I’m not that type of girl.  My friend B and I had a great laugh seeing him chase us, naked, as we drove on in the night.  Good times, good times.

I found my senior class and high school tassels.  My god, who thought of those as cool colors?  Yuck.  Not that my school colors were much better.  But like I say, I grew up in the ghetto.

I also found a few pictures, still in the frames.  Here are my favorite two, one of my from the Kid Rock video shoot from Cocky

And the other of me and my friend B @ a waterfall in a rainforest in Puerto Rico.

Hell, I even found some of my autographs from famous people.  Here is my beloved Steven Tyler autograph, taken in when the band came to see Time Cop at the theatre I work at.

I had a blast unpacking every single piece of my holiday stuff and decorating my house with it.  Now my house is wonderfully scented and ablaze with flames everywhere you look.

Well, I’m off for a bath and a Jets pizza.  The boys are bitching they want dinner, so I’m off.

What’s going on for you this weekend?

  1. Some weekends I LOVE to lounge around in my jammies all weekend. Doing it by choice is far different than doing it by necessity, that’s for sure. I’ve been tired lately too and I don’t know if that is fibro fatigue or just catching up from doing too much the last several months. Mostly I like to sew on the weekends, go for walks in the fresh air, go to a movie, work in the yard if the weather is nice, or just visit family and play with the grandkids.

  2. Ha! Ha! It looks as if you’ve FOUND a lot of stuff… but it does not look as if you got RID of a lot of stuff.

The minute you get rid of something, you need it.

I had the habit of keeping all my old plane boarding passes. Thinking I was being overly sentimental, I discarded them two weeks ago. It turns out Delta is now asking me for 6 month old boarding passes to Belgium to credit miles to my account. Of course I do not have them anymore. ‘Nuff said. I think I have proven my point.

It’s much better to keep everything. :-)

  3. I enjoyed your pictures and the naked cowboy story! I have not done much of anything this weekend. I did a little “window shopping”, which is my term for online shopping. (Get it?? I’m so witty.) I got a small start on Christmas. Then Josh and I went to Walmart to waste some money. I also brushed the dog. My house may be a mess right now, but my dog is always in good shape. Tomorrow? Laundry. The fun never ends around here!

  4. Spent less than $25 to fill an empty gas tank and celebrated by going on a long drive. We checked out 2 state parks for future camping trips and a couple of hiking trails — too cold to hike today. Besides, it’s hunting season and it’s not smart to be in the woods without hunter orange on.

That is a funny story about the naked cowboy. Seems like it serves him right!

  5. I just sit around!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Round one of nose and ass wiping in the MTAE house…the flu might be coming here…

  7. As of late my weekends entail me working my crappy seasonal job at the mall..blech! Christmas is expensive and every little bit helps. I love jammie weekends and I just got a new fuzzy robe and ne P.J’s for my birthday..yay me!

I LOVED Angela’s ashes! What a great book, I loved the way he told his story but yes, it was very sad and cold. DOn’t rent the movie..as always it doesn’t compare to the book.

My hubby and I rented The Bucket List last night woth Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. I really liked it(get your kleenex handy).

  8. Well every weekend is different of course, but as of late mine have been LAME. Although I did get a text from my long lost friend ORTIZ last night to meet at a hall party she was at. But, with such short notice, I didn’t venture out. Usually I do that laundry from 6am Sat am until about 4pm. I try to straighten up and organize my receipts. I rarely go out either day as I don’t want to fight crowds at stores or in restaurants! Sometimes I get an impromptu booty call….or a friend wanting to meet for lunch, those are nice surprises…>LMAO…but most of the time, it’s hard to venture anyplace as we all have to do it five days a week. I realized yesterday that I could never be a full time MOTHER. These kids drive me BANANAS on the weekends. We look so forward to the weekends NOT to have to be at work, but I don’t know that we ever do anything special!
I remember the cowboy story…LOL…the trouble you get Becky in! And did you throw the tassels out?

  9. Little Miss – Yes, pj’s are the best.

Natalie – Ha ha, I did manage to throw out a ton of stuff.

Birdpress – I do most of my shopping online. The stores and malls are CRAZY at Christmastime. I can’t take it.

Mike – Oh, I love that gas is so cheap again, lets hope it lasts …

Kaylee – You blog, too, don’t forget.

Electrician – Beautifully put. I’m sorry to hear about the epidemic.

Shannon – Oh, I hope you don’t have to fold shirts. I think I would go mad doing that. I hear you on the extra $ thing, that is why I was selling PARTYLITE.

Ange – Michelle invited you out? Wow. Too bad you didn’t go. I know, I dragged Becky on a lot of adventures. And I kept the tassels, of course.

  10. PS…Oh and each weekend and every single day I READ YOUR BLOG! LOL

  11. I am usually junk on Saturday, because Friday night is poker night. My husband and I have been playing with the same group of friends every Friday night for about 5 years. It is how I supplement my income!

We usually crawl into bed between 3-4AM and then we wake up Saturday and go to a late breakfast. I look forward to Friday night all week!

    Love the Kid Rock photo!

  12. Ange – Hell ya you do!

Fibro – Oooh, a lady who can play cards and win. How fun! I used to love cards, but after living in Vegas I never want to play any cards or gamble. Made me sick working in those casinos. And thanks!

  13. Good girl tidying up for the Mr. Very sweet and hard to do, especially with kids. I love the pics and the cowboy story-LOL! Sorry about your illness, that sounds horrible! It’s also refreshing to stumble into someone else who enjoys “The Office” – what a fabulous show, I watch it every week!!!
My weekends are spent at home, low key. I’m a major home body.
