Here in status symbol land … didn’t you guys and gals just love The Monkees back in the day? When I was four I was telling folks that The Beatles and The Monkees were my favorite bands. Too cute, right? I actually saw them in concert twice, and rushed the stage @ The Silverdome and was right up front. Sadly, I’m worried this isn’t the sort of thing I should be bragging about …
Well, my roses are in bloom, but it was hell on earth today at Meijer. I can not believe I spent $311 on groceries, after saving an extra $44 w/coupons and in store specials. I’m sick to my stomach at how much food has gone up over the past six months. We can’t afford that … but I haven’t went grocery shopping for a whole month, and needed to stock up on my baking stuff, salads, yogurts, and frozen stuff galore. The hubby and I were surviving on $5, $5 dollar, $5 dollar footlongs this week. That is one damn catchy toon, and is often sang in The Ghetto Girl’s household.
Want to hear some of my yummy meals?
Eggplant parmasian, magnificant meatloaf, sweet potatoe casserole, pork tenderloin in the crock pot, homemade meatball subs, homemade baked potato soup.
Tonight we had philly-style hoagies that were to die for, mmmm mmmm. And we are having Faux Chocolate Eclair dessert tonight. So Ange and Kim, sorry I couldn’t make i to Olga’s tonight …. I had some yummy stuff planned.
Enough of the food talk. Let’s talk celebrity gossip!!! What is this nonsense that my movie star boyfrien Joaquin Phoenix is quitting Hollywood? Um, no you better not. We have had a love affair since way back … I found you charming as Gary in Parenthood.
You were great as Jimmy in To Die For. But we fell in love in one of your best films, Inventing the Abbots, when you played Doug, the good younger Abbott boy.
You have been in so many good films, from Quills to Gladiator, when you almost stole the movie away from Russell Crowe.
I even liked The Village because you were in it. And, man alive, in Walk The Line, you became Johnny Cash.
Please don’t do this to me. I only have a small group of celebrity boyfriends, and I’m not looking to replace you with some moron like Zack Efron! Don’t quit on me Joaquin!!!!

The Beatles and the Monkees were a little before my time (1976) but I remember my brothers and I would watch the Monkees reruns on T.V. and walk around the house doing that walk and sing “Hey Hey we’re the Monkees…” and at the end of the song we’d go ” 3..2..1..SCATTER!!!!” and then we’d all run off in different directions! I know weird right?
I shop at kroger to get the gas discount and I’m happy to report that I have succesfully sticking to my $150.00 a week budget. In fact I’ve been well under budget for the last two weeks! Not bad for feeding a family of five for the whole week. I do shop at costco for the bulk items once a month. Sounds like you’ve got some yummy meals on the menu. I found the recipe for Bob Evan’s Cheddar Potato Soup online and I am making that tomorrow with Tastefully Simple’s beerbread..omg it is sooooo yummy!
I have to laugh at the Subway song cuz we sing it all the time around here!! We have $5 dollar footlongs once a week usually on College Football Saturdays!! Go Blue! Yes I know your a Sparty fan and yes I know you guys kicked our asses this year but we’re having a rough year..lol!
I’m soooo looking forward to ROL Charm School tonight!! I hate Mehgan and Lacey equally but I want them to stay around because they are good entertainment, so I think meth face Brandi C. should go just because she’s so damn hard to look at!!
O.K. I got a little off topic but I’m sure you’ll be blogging about ROLCS soon!!

LOL – I used to love Mickey Dolenz! And oh my gosh. Isn’t that sad that Joaquin Phoenix wants to retire from acting? But you know, maybe he is smarter than most – he has had a great career, many fantastic movies. Maybe it is good to get out on a high note and enjoy life rather than deal with all the Hollywood crap. He is such a talented hunk though. **sigh**

Shannon – Glad to hear I’m not the only person singing that Subway song. I only watched parts of ROL because, sadly its making me sick, although, however, glad as hell Megan is gone!!!
Teeni – I was a Davey Jones kind of girl, but I understand Mickey’s appeal. It is sad about Joaquin, but maybe your right. Look what fame did to his brother.
Ange – Brandi C is one nutty chick, right! Glad you guys had a blast.

I love sweet potato casserole. I make a great one. I’m not even allowed at Thanksgiving if I don’t make it. There are no marshmallows involved.
I love Joaquin Phoenix. Our dog is named Phoenix. Is he really retiring? He is absolutely one of my favorite actors.
I’m interested in the pork tenderloin crock pot recipe. What’s in it?
