The Girl from the Ghetto

Liar, liar pants on fire!

July 11, 2008 · 7 Comments

Yesterday was a very interesting day. I talked to my friend and former co-worker, who told me somthing VERY VERY interesting. Remember the job I interviewed for a few months back, at my old job with my old boss (And six others?) Well, it turns out that THE HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT (Not my old boss, but her boss) HIRED HER DAMN FRIEND! F-C-! When I called HR to find out politiely could they explain why I wasn’t hired, this lady must have shat her pants. HR gave me some BS about that I gave a great interview (Which, honestly, I swear I did) but that they went with another person who already had the same type of job as the one I interviewed for. WTF! First of all, all liars are on my most-hated list. I hate LIARS!

I also found out that three other people from the department weren’t even granted interviews, and they were hurt I got one, since I don’t work there still … now I feel bad for them. Why even bother posting a job in this horrible economy if you are going to just give it away to a pal. Don’t waste our precious interviewing time!

It is a little better in the construction field (my field). It is very easy to measure performance and performance can be measured daily. Peformance is directly related to $$$ to the company and the projects are so tihgt now that it may be one of the few fields that seem to get it right.

On the other hand, the unions aren’t as strong here and that changes the rules quite a bit. I know, being a former Michigan resident, that it is union turf up there.

I just wanted to let you know how to do a link since I noticed you had mentioned a couple of times that you didn’t know how to do it. I can’t believe you haven’t been able to do one all this time so I’m gonna try to explain it, the easiest way I can. Okay, so first you write your post. Then, open a new window with the site you want to link to in it. Copy into your your clipboard the URL address (Ctrl+C). Next, go to the text in your post that you want to be the link and highlight it to select it. Then press the linked chain icon in the post writing/editing screen. Paste (Ctrl+V) the address you previously copied into the space where it asks you for the URL link. Next, decide whether the link should be opened in the same window or a new one. If you choose a new window, then the reader will just have to close the new window to get back to your site after viewing the link. If you choose the same window, they your reader will have to hit the “Back” button on their browser to get back to your site after viewing the link. You can just leave title blank. After making your choice, and choosing Insert, you will see your link highlighted blue in the editing window and underlined. Finish editing or writing your post and don’t forget to save it! Hope this helps. Oh, you can also make an image a link. Just insert the desired image into your post and then in the above instructions where it says to highlight the text in your post that you want to be the link, highlight your image instead. Everything else is done the same.

Teeni - Thanks for the extended directions. I’m going to try it soon.

    Kaylee - Me, either.

Electrician - Unions for everyone but me!

Liars and cheaters suck and should be beaten with a big stick with a nail in it, at the bare minimum.

I’m so glad teeni gave you those instructions! And it sucks that they did that to you. In my mind, I’m ghostwriting a thank you note to your ex-boss:

“Thank you for the interview. I understand that your boss hired her friend, and although I’m sure I’ll find another position, I will always regret that I couldn’t work for someone with such incredible moral fiber. ”

Oh, and in my mind, I also send a copy of it to the ex-boss’s boss.

Moonbeam - Thanks. The big bummer was I really, really really like my ex-boss and really wanted to work with her again. Sigh!
