JOHN LOCKE WAS IN THE DAMN CASKET! I knew it! My god, I’m in a state of shock. Tonight’s episode just rocked! I’m just so torn, how can I possible wait two more years to find out if The Oceanic 6 make it BACK to THE ISLAND?
Ok, here is my very, very lenghy recap of tonights three hours of LOST:
- Watching the enhanced part one episode, “There’s No Place Like Home” Jack’s last words to Juliet were “I’ll see you in a couple of hours.” Which, translates into over three long years. Poor damn Juliet, she can’t catch a friggin’ break.
- Miles, the Asian ghost Whisperer,
looks a lot like Jon from Jon and Kate + 8. See for yourself …
- They say Aaron is five weeks old, when he is really eight weeks old. They give the real age on this episode.
- They say that eleven survived the crash on this enhanced show, and that Libby, Charlie, and Boone died before they washed ashore of Membata/Sumba Islands.
- I let out a little scream when they flashed forward ahead of the scene where Jack and Kate are at the airport and Jack screams “We have to go back Kate.” And then Jack mentions the name of the man in the casket “Jeremy Bentham.” Which we now know was John Locke. What does this name mean? Is it his adoptive name … we know he was born John Locke. Of course, Jeremy Bentham was a real philosopher …

- We have a couple of good one liners, one of my favorites was Sawyer to Jack “What’s the plan Sundance?” when they are approaching The Orchid.

- We also see one hell of a kick-ass fight between Sayad and Keamy when Kate and Sayad help the others recapture Ben. Nothing like two professional killers trying to kill each other, right?
- We flash forward to Hurley in the nuthouse, and a sassy black grannie is there with Walt, who tells Hurley that Jeremy Bentham (AKA John Locke) came to see him, as he also came to see Jack and Kate before his untimely death. Walt asked Hurley why the Oceanic 6 were lying and Hurley tells him that “this is the only way to protect everyone who didn’t come back.” And we then learn that Michael doesn’t make it back.

- When Locke and Jack meet again, Locke asks Jack to remain on the island, and tells Jack that “crashing here was our destiny.” And he somehow convinces Jack to lie about the crash, and not to let on there were survivors. And he tells Jack that “miracles happen” on the island, but still doesn’t own up to the fact that he in a wheelchair before crashing on that island!
- In the meantime, Michael, Jin and Desmond have come up with some half-assed place to freeze the battery to slow down the eventual explosion and sure death.
- Ben catches up to John, and takes him to the vault, where he has John watch 1/2 a tape on the time traveling vault. Hmmmm … told you so! The video explain how to never put inorganic or metal into the vault, and yet we see Ben loading up the vault with every piece of metal he can find.
- The lift moves, and sure enough, Keamy comes back, to try and capture Ben. He is wearing a heart monitor that will blow up the boat if he dies. Of course, Ben stabs him to death, which leads to the freighter’s eventual ka-bomb!
- Locke yells to Ben that “You just killed everyone on the boat” and Ben rips back and evil “So?” Oh, these two characters together are so damn fabulous!

- Asian Ghost Whisperer outs Charlotte when he tells her why would she leave when she’s been trying to FIND HER WAY BACK TO THE ISLAND FOR YEARS! Hmmm ….. stay tuned next season folks …. (Wasn’t she the little girl who was friends with Ben when he was a kid on the island before he became evil?)
- Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Sayad and Frank take off in the helicopter, and it’s losing fuel due to being hit by a bullet. They need to lose weight, and Sawyer whispers to Kate to take care of his daughter Clementime, slaps a big wet one on her, then jumps out the helicopter.
We see him make it to shore, shirtless … and only Juliet remains with a bottle of rum, drinking and watching the ship sinking … but I’m getting ahead of myself.
- Sayad kills a man sitting outside Hurley’s mental home. They discus Jeremy’s apparent suicide. Sayad has come to take Hurley somewhere safe, and Hurley leaves the game of chess with the invisible ghost of Mr. Ecko.

- Just as the boat is about to blow, the helicopter lands, grabs Desmond and Sun, and takes off, leaving the rest behind. Jacks daddy Cristian appears before Michael and tells him he can go. Then the ship blows up, just as Jin makes it to the deck. We see it sink, and Sun is just hysterical in the helicopter. A very moving scene.

- We see Sun in London, approaching Mr. Widmore about their common interests.
- Ben and Locke say their goodbyes, as whoever moves the island can’t come back. Ben tells John “Sorry I made your life so miserable,” then Ben climbs down a long tunnel and breaks into a icy room, where he turns what looks like a huge ships wheel, and we see the cold turn to heat, hear a weird noise, just like when Desmond turned the key, and saw the island disappear, seemingly sinking into the sea.
- Of course, the helicopter runs out of fuel with no where to land, and they crash, and of course Jack saves Desmond’s life. Frank, Desmond, and The Oceanic 6 have a life boat, and they are resuced by non other than F-ING PENNY!
Jack manages to convince everyone to say they survived the crash in the ocean, and Penny takes them to another island where she leaves our 6 in a small raft. And this is how they are saved. - But wait, a little more …. Kate has a dream where a fat faced Claire (Is she pregnant in real life or something) is next to Aaron, and she tells Kate not to bring him back to The Island. (But you know she will anyways, right?)
- We flash forward again and see Jack, drugged out, break into the Hoffs/Drawler funeral home, and just as he opens the casket of Jeremy, Ben is there. And he asks him about Jeremy. And Jack tells him how Jeremy came to see him, and told him of the bad things that happened on the island, and that they were Jack’s fault, and that Jack had to go back.

- So, Jack has been trying to go back, by trying to crash again, as he constantly flies on Oceanic Airlines.
- But, Ben tells him, YOU ALL HAVE TO GO BACK … ALL OF YOU.

- And, then they show you John in the coffin, and Ben tells Jack, and him, too, you have to take him … (But I don’t think John is dead, I think Ben is manipulating all of them … )

What a great post! How can you remember all of that?

This show was awesome tonight. But do you really think John is still alive? I can’t wait for next season.

I think Sawyer and Juliet will get off the island, don’t you?

John can’t be dead, he has the “special spiritual connection” to the island.
The moving the island thing was really neat. They keep mystery about whether Ben Linus really is evil or not.

Great points, I don’t remember half the stuff you brought up….interesting part on John not being dead, obviously time travel has some sort of effect. John is way to crucial of a character because of his numerous disputes with Jack

Amazing episode!
But… they all refer to John Locke as “Jeremy Bentham”, who in real life is a philosopher in part-wax form in some museum… or so I read. Therefore perhaps John’s body inside the casket is made of wax? He must be, because John never left the island… Or did he?

When does the next season start? Did you say 2 years? I can’t wait two years.I kept having to pause the TV so I could remember to breathe. Thanks for the recap. There is always stuff I forget.

An extra thought to add that I never thought of until a few minutes ago:
When they had to lose the weight, and the pilot said every ounce counts, wouldn’t they have thrown the life jackets and the boat overboard? So how did all that get back on the copter? I doubt they had time while refueling.
Also, they made a couple of alternate endings. Check it out at http://videogum.com/archives/spoilers/lost-whos-in-the-hatch_010106.html

Sweet recap!
I too think that Locke is really dead. It would really be a “Dallas-it’s all a dream” situation if it was a trick or he was faking or something.
Did you see the alternate endings they filmed in case one was leaked? They were on Good Morning America and there were two of them, one with Desmond in the casket and the other with Sawyer!

I have not seen the alternative endings, but I’m going to check them out in a minute.
Thanks for all of the kind thoughts, and yes, I thought they threw out the life jackets as well last night!

It was such an AMAZING episode! The fight between Sayid and Keamy was awesome. And ya, you really do have to feel sorry for Juliet. Maybe she and Sawyer will get together?
The scene with Sun when the freighter exploded was heart-wrenching.
GREAT recap!

I can only hope that Juliet and Sawyer get it on!!!

The alternate endings were just different people in the coffin. Sawyer and Hurley I believe.
Good post on an excellent show.
