6 Things Meme

So, Trailer Park Barbie, my witty southern white trash blog twin, has tagged me to do  this meme.  Although, after posting just about everything about myself, I’m hopping I can come up with something decent and charming here.  Check out my 101 things about me if you like what you read here.

1. I love being outdoors.  Not that I’m like Ms. Sporty, but I used to walk 4-8 miles per day faithfully for years and years, well, hell, my whole life.  Rain or shine my ass was out there, enjoying the fresh air.  I wish I lived in the mountains so that I could sit outside 24/7 and just relax.  Maybe someday I’ll get to move to Wyoming or Utah.

2. I’d love to work for a non-public organization, and/or a recreation department, or even a summer camp.  It’s been my dream since age 8 to be a camp director (and strangely enough, a writer.)  I hope to one day see these last dreams of mine come true.   I have a degree in Community Development/Public Administration, with a minor in Recreation.   Anybody friggin’ hiring in MI?  I would be eternally grateful.

3. I used to love technology, but now I’m starting to hate it.  Don’t get me wrong, the internet is great for educational purposes and of course entertainment.  But I hate to always have to text people, check email, etc.  I miss writing old fashioned letters and waiting the day for an important telephone call.  It makes me sick to see people on cell phones @ restaurants, etc.  It’s like more technology = less free time.

4. I can’t stand being fake to people, or being around fake people.  I have an honest policy – if I hate you, I ignore you, and you know it.  I’ve worked hard in my life, and I like to get by on my merits and not my popularity, so too bad if I’m not an ass kisser.  I hate people who are one, and I promise that I never will stoop down to that level.  I also hate lazy people.

5. I love reading and learning about buddhism.  But when you talk religion. people freak out.  So this is probably the one and only time I will share this: Buddhism goes beyond religion and is more of a philosophy or a way of life. Buddhists generally believe in:

  • leading a moral life,
  • being mindful and aware of thoughts and actions, and
  • the importance of developing wisdom and understanding.

6. I am a fricking nerd.  I could go to college for the rest of my life and be happy.  I love nothing more than reading and discovering new things.  This is probably why I can’t tolerate lazy people,  as I can’t fathom why anyone would not want to get smarter, learn more, do more, be more.

Here are the rules: 1) Link back to the person who tagged you (that= me!). 2) Post the rules on your blog. 3) Write six things about yourself. 4) Tag six people at the end of your post by posting links to their blog sites. 5) Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their site. 6) And let your tagger know when your entry is up.

I tag:

Romi, Lucky, Joan Harvest, Betme, The Queen Chimes In, and  Little  Miss.

  1. hehe great list :)

  2. I love memes, so I will get on this one tomorrow. #5 is my favorite. I recently bought Buddhism for Dummies and my daughter bought me a wonderful book with 365 Buddhist quotes. I have been collecting Buddhas for years. It seems to be the only religion I have ever been able to connect with.

I enjoyed the rest of your list also. You can never learn too much, which is why my room is filled with non fiction books. I just want to know everything.

  3. What a list, I’m not sure yet where I belong.

  4. #4…it’s me and you…we are so much alike that way!

  5. Cool meme. I will jump right on it in my best procrastinating way. ;)

I agree fully on #3. I want to ditch most of it and let life find me slowly thru the US Postal Service.

  6. I did the meme. The only thing I didn’t do is tag anyone yet but I will tonight. I have to go do errands and cook supper.

  7. Thanks

  8. I am soooo with you on 3 and 6!

Cellphone are becoming a nuisance. Ironically, as much as I lecture my kids about talking on their phones and driving, I am the one who got pulled over by a cop the other day for talking on a cellphone. I swear….I rarely talk on a phone and drive. It’s just too dangerous. Plus, I go out sometimes to get away from people, phones, visitors, etc. So, why would I spend time out talking on a damn cellphone?

I would go to college for the rest of my life, too. If I could just get somebody else to pay for it. I love going to school. I love exams and tests. Wish there was a job position for this.

  9. [...] I will start off with the Meme from http://thegirlfromtheghetto.wordpress.com/2008/04/29/6-things-meme/ Many of us in the blogosphere travel in the same circles visiting many of the same blogs. If you [...]
