The Girl from the Ghetto

Tired, so tired … but still blogging …

Whew, I just got finished taking out trash (Which I never do, but I wanted to make my husband happy, since he helped me clean all day, plus painted and hung a lot of curtians) and doing the dishes, and putting my house back together.  I had a fun night tonight, as I hosted a Partylite show and I’m happy to report that The Girl From The Ghetto will be back selling for Partylite again as a consultant.  I did this for 2 years, on top of working 2 other jobs.  I made some decent money, and this time around I hope to do the same, as all my profits will go towards completing my Masters degree.

I don’t have strength to find cute photos … since it’s 2:23 am, but here are my top 5 moments from tonights show:

  1. My mom showing up 1 hour early, and I cut my hand bad as I was rushing trying to finish setting up and trying to talk to her and my aunts, and having my husband bring me the smallest Hello Kitty Band Aid when I need like 3 of them.  Ha ha ha …. it was a rough start, but things went uphill after this.
  2. My step-daughter’s friend who is 13 spending over $100 at my show, WTF?
  3.  My buddy Debi telling me that my brownie triffle dessert is the best dessert in the world .. and really, it is up there people.
  4. The after party that went until very late where we gabbed our heads off.  Which leads me into #5.
  5. Me telling childhood stories - When I was young, my mom made me and any friend of mine pay $2 a piece for a ride anywhere, but just one way.  Which means my friend Ange had to pay $4, as I was usually broke.  Well, one night it was raining hard, we had no coats, and called my mom for a ride.  She shows up 30 minutes later, even though it was like 3/4 of a mile, and the windshield wipers were broke.  So, her and my brother had tied a rope to the blades, and had the windows down and they were pulling the rope to move the blades.  Which means we were getting soaked in the back seat.  Also, there wasn’t a back seat floor in the 1980 Bonneville my mom was driving, so water and much was splashing up from below, and we had to hold our feet up to keep from losing a foot.  It was HYSTERICAL.  My mom could barely drive the car with her one free hand, and she had to stop for smoks on the way home, so it took about 40 minutes.  And I’m pretty sure Ange had to walk home from my house still, as she lived around the block.  Really, those were the days.  And kids complain today about not having dual dvd players in their mom’s minivans?  Come on!!!

Hubby said sometimes he doesn’t believe my old stories … he was gonna ask you if I make them up, but said he was afraid I would have been mad. LOL!

I totally forgot about the mouse in the frosted flakes cereal … ahh haa haa!

I once had a VW bug that didn’t have a driver’s seat and I drove it anyway. I sat on a stool. No wonder I have back problems. LOL

I want to see photos of the food. Since I can’t eat it, at least I can look at it.

    I’m a sucker for candles.

I’ll just have to go back to your earlier blog and look at the food from last year.

Well SOMETIMES I must admitt some of the stories are exaggerated…but it makes them ALL the more hilarious…LMAO…..cracks me up…..again, especially when I half way forgot them…and then you bring them up with the AC twist and I get hysterical! TOO FUNNY….

LMAO!!! I can relate to number 5. I had an old car with rusted out floor boards. The window defroster did not work so I was holding a lighter up to the windshield to melt a little hole for me to see out while I drove.

    Congrats on a successful party!

How on earth did you manage to get those rides without a source of income? Like I was the kid who would ask other kids for their change after using the vending machine (LOL, yes I had no pride as a child)…did you run up a tab for car rides or something???

Dude, The Big A paid my way for many things as a child, lol! Also, my grandma gave me $20 every time she saw me, and I saved that money for rides, etc.

PartyLite rocks. Good for you. When I’m in the market to buy (also called when I have any money to spend), I’ll look you up!

    Sounds good Little Miss.
